The Values Gals

Amy Bailey, General Manager of Values Count, LLC and Liz Stubbs, Senior Feature Editor are The Values Gals. We are two 30-something women (at least for a little while longer) who want to make a difference when it comes to the practice of positive values in our world.

And while we are The Values "Gals"...

...IT'S NOT JUST A GIRL THING!

Everyone has values, everyone practices those values - sometimes in a positive manner, sometimes in a not so positive manner - but we think EVERYONE can do better. There is always room for improvement in anything that you do. And in this day and age, where we are constantly bombarded with images of negative values practices - in the media, in traffic, at the mall, even in our schools, neighborhoods and workplaces - it might become too easy to fall into the trap of moving about our worlds as poor values example to follow.

Our goal is to do what we can to undo the bad rap the term "values" has gotten from groups or individuals trying to take ownership of the term. Those who convey that only if you think this way or are part of this group will your values be "good" or "right" are doing us all a disservice. Values are values. Honesty, accountability, integrity, civility, gratitude, respect - these values belong to YOU. They are part of who we all are. We may see positive examples from our families, friends, teachers, coworkers, business owners, church leaders and yes, even politicians sometimes, but no one, no group has the exclusive rights to values.

We hope that through our efforts values will receive the attention they deserve. We want to see values dialogue at the dinner table, in the classroom, at the office, in our neighborhoods. More so, we just want to see the positive practice of them. It can make such a significant, beneficial impact on our individual lives as well as on our communities as a whole.
